Games design students

We have a range of on-campus games facilities to support you during your course, housed in our new, state-of-the-art Poole Gateway Building.

This includes computer games labs equipped with high-end PCs and the latest graphics cards to produce the highest quality of interactive and immersive experiences using the latest computer game engines, such as Unity and Unreal Engine.

The labs offer a variety of configurations to enhance flexible modes of learning and teaching delivery to reflect the experience of working as individuals or as teams and to best prepare you for the games and related creative industries practices.

This 200msq studio is designed for multiple uses and is a shared facility between the Faculty of Media & Communication and the Faculty of Science & Technology.

The soundstage is equipped with a multiple sensor motion capture system, which allows for large-volume captures, thanks to the generous capacity of the studio, which can be used for the motion capture of live actors to be used for the purpose of generating compelling 3D character animations for computer games.

It is essentially an empty space which can be used for multiple purposes including virtual and augmented reality experiences.
