Learning facilities

We have a variety of learning spaces that are open to all of our students, where you can access support, a wide range of resources and find a place to study individually or as part of a group.

The Sir Michael Cobham Library is an award-winning building on Talbot Campus that has a wide collection of online, print and multimedia resources, as well as a Language Centre. For postgraduate students, there's also a dedicated study area on the first floor, with space for silent and group study. We also have a library in Bournemouth House on our Lansdowne Campus.

All the BU libraries have Wi-Fi and you will also find a variety of study spaces from silent study areas to group rooms, technobooths and social learning spaces.

Our IT facilities are being constantly updated to ensure you have access to the latest technology throughout your time at BU. We have Open Access Centres on both campuses, which give you access to computers and printers 24-hours a day, 7 days a week.

Our Academic Building, which opened in September 2016, is a further example of our commitment to providing world-class learning facilities for all of our students. And it doesn't stop there. We are continuing to invest in campus facilities between now and 2025 to meet the changing needs of our staff and students.

Each of our Faculties has its own outstanding facilities available to students on relevant courses, with examples including our crime scene house and processor lab, as well as our music studios within the Faculty of Science & Technology; our TV studio within the Faculty of Media & Communication; our ambulance and clinics within the Faculty of Heath & Social Sciences; and a food management studio for food product testing, launches of food innovations and a range of other activities within the Bournemouth University Business School.
