Home Park

Opened in September 2017, Home Park offers contemporary purpose-built student accommodation for Bournemouth University students with a variety of ensuite rooms and studios as well as an on-site laundry complete with washers and dryers. Your new home will put you in the centre of it all – access to local shops, minutes away from the train station, 10 minutes’ walk to the town centre and seafront.

Please note that Home Park is not available for September 2020 entry.

ResLifeBU

ResLifeBU is a programme designed to help you enjoy your time in student accommodation to the fullest. It’s included in all of the accommodation managed by or in partnership with BU.

Our ResLifeBU Team supports you across three core areas:

  • Social, covering a wide range of inclusive activities and events
  • Wellbeing, comprising your welfare, health, safety and overall comfort and security
  • Skills – from cooking masterclasses to tips on managing your budget

The team comprises of our ResLife Assistants (RAs) who are current BU students and live on site with an understanding of what it’s like to move to a new home when you start at uni. Our Welfare Coordinator is a current member of BU staff and is available for any wellbeing issues you might have whilst in residence.

£1 of your weekly rent goes towards the funding of the programme – but if you make the most of it, you’ll find it’s worth so much more than that.

Types of room

Feel right at home in one of Home Park’s open-plan studios or ensuite rooms (all Wi-Fi enabled). All rooms come with their own bathroom and ¾ size bed (120cm x 190cm), along with a desk, chair and storage. Each studio flat has its own modern kitchen (with combi microwave oven)/dining area. All of the bedrooms in Home Park are ensuite, with standard and large studio options:

Location and the surrounding area

Home Park has access to local shops, is minutes away from the train station, and 10 minutes’ walk to the town centre and seafront. The block is also close to our Students’ Union-run club and live music venue, The Old Fire Station.

It’s within easy reach of all the BU buildings on our Lansdowne Campus, while your nearest bus stop to get to our Talbot Campus is just two minutes’ walk away.

Travelling to and from uni (and beyond)

Buses run to our Talbot Campus run from Holdenhurst Rd, just two minutes from Home Park. From there, it takes around 15 minutes to get to campus using a university bus service. 

Your bus pass is included in your rent so you can use these services as much as you need throughout the year, although you can opt out of this if you choose. The bus pass also includes unlimited travel on morebus zone A services, spanning the wider Bournemouth, Poole and Christchurch area.

If you prefer to ride, there is a secure bike store on site.

Facilities and shared spaces

Home Park has a large communal lounge for residents to socialise and relax in. Facilities include vending machines, table football, pool and a television, and of course Wi-Fi.

There is also a purpose-built good sized study room for personal and group study.

The standard ensuites are in cluster flats of between five and seven rooms, sharing a fully equipped modern kitchen and lounge. Each studio flat has its own modern kitchen (with combi microwave oven)/dining area.

Services and security

Your bedroom and common room has high-speed wifi for work and play.

All of your bills are included in your weekly rent so you have nothing further to pay.

As well as having CCTV in the building and secure access, there is also a Home Park team member onsite 24 hours a day to provide any help you might need.

The onsite team includes a maintenance operative who will be able to respond and resolve any faults for you in a timely manner.

There is also a ResLifeBU Team who are on hand if you have any wellbeing concerns and they also organise regular social events (see ResLifeBU above)

Management and Code of Standards

Home Park is owned and operated by BU's private accommodation partner, Student Roost. However, BU will be your landlord and you will pay your rent to us. Any queries related to your contract or rent should be with your BU Residential Services Team. All other day-to-day queries or issues you might have during your time will be dealt with by Student Roost's dedicated on-site team.

Student Roost has signed this site up to the ANUK Accommodation Code, which has been developed to encourage the highest possible standards of student accommodation provided by universities and major private suppliers. Find out more about the Code and how it benefits you.

Your accommodation Licence at Home Park will be with the University. This means that the University will be your landlord, issue your accommodation contract and you will pay them your rent. However, the site itself is run by our accommodation partner, Student Roost, who we contract to deliver the day to day management services at the site.
