Why study BSc (Hons) Product Design at BU?

The BSc (Hons) Product Design focuses on the technological aspect of design whereas the BA focuses on the aesthetic and contextual issues relating to product design. You don’t need to decide which route you’ll take until your final year.

Accredited by the Institution of Engineering Designers (IED) as fully meeting the exemplifying academic benchmark requirements for registration as a Registered Product Designer (RProdDes) for the 2025-2029 intake years.

4 years full-time with a minimum 30-week placement or 3 years full-time. You will be enrolled onto the 4-year degree, but can opt out of the placement year.

For September 2026 entry: 104–120 UCAS tariff points (A-level grades BCC–BBB) including a minimum of 2 A-levels or equivalent qualifications. We also accept a wide range of vocational qualifications including BTEC Extended Diploma (grade DMM) and T Levels (Merit). Foundation Year: 48–72 UCAS tariff points, including 1 A-level or equivalent.

For September 2027 entry: 112–128 UCAS tariff points (A-level grades BBC–ABB) including a minimum of 2 A-levels or equivalent qualifications. We also accept a wide range of vocational qualifications including BTEC Extended Diploma (grade DMM–DDM) and T Levels (Merit). Foundation year: 48-72 UCAS tariff points including 1 A-level or equivalent.
