Active IQ Level 2 Award in Instructing Circuit Sessions

The Active IQ Award in Instructing Circuit Sessions is at level 2 on the Regulated Qualifications Framework. It is also recognised by CIMSPA at level 2.

This course will train learners, who already have knowledge and skills in gym or exercise to music instruction, to a professionally competent level to plan and deliver safe and effective circuit training sessions.

The blended learning programme allows you to complete most of your theoretical study in your own time (you will need access to a computer with the internet) with attendance at Bournemouth University for practical workshops and exams.

Entry requirements:

A suitable Level 2 Fitness Instructing qualification e.g. Active IQ Level 2 Certificate in Fitness Instructing (Gym/ ETM). The course requires physical exertion and individual participation is essential; therefore, a degree of physical fitness is necessary. There is also an element of communication (discussing, presenting, reading and writing) involved and learners should have basic skills in communication pitched at level 2. Some experience of circuit training is useful.

Active IQ Level 2 Award in Instructing Circuit Sessions will broaden the individuals skills of gym or exercise to music instructors to include instructing group sessions in circuit training sessions. It is designed to provide learners with an understanding of the legal and professional requirements of a circuits’ instructor. Learners are provided with an understanding of the key concepts of circuit training and how technology can be used in circuit sessions. Learners are also provided with the knowledge and skills to be able to plan, prepare and deliver safe and effective group circuit sessions

Entry Requirements  

Learners must hold a suitable Level 2 fitness instructing qualification, for example:

Active IQ Level 2 Certificate in Gym Instructing.
Active IQ Level 2 Certificate in Group Training.
Active IQ Level 2 Certificate in Fitness Instructing.

Some experience of circuit training is useful.

This qualification comprises of one unit:

  • Unit 1 - Planning and Instructing circuit sessions (M/618/3442)

Successful achievement of both units must be achieved for the full qualification.

  • Coursework/Project
  • Portfolio of Evidence
  • Practical Demonstration/Assignment.
