• Project Management in Practice: The aim of this unit is to develop a critical awareness of project management knowledge, context and boundaries together with an understanding of the role and responsibilities of different stakeholders. 
• Projects in Society: Projects can be seen as being at the heart of the global economy, communities and wider society. They introduce change, both positive and negative.  We will explore the challenges, controversies, opportunities and debates around managing projects in a global context.
• Project Management & Change: This unit focusses on project management and you will explore the theories and practices associated with research methods and change management, as appropriate to a variety of business, social and technical environments to ensure success and sustainability of project change programmes in business and society. 
• Accounting & Financial Management: You will develop the techniques and skills that are required to analyse and evaluate accounting and other forms of financial data for the purposes of performance evaluation, decision making and risk analysis. 
• Entrepreneurship, Innovation & Design: You will develop an effective entrepreneurial, innovative, and design thinking mindset. The implementation of design management principles, innovative culture and governance will be explored in a variety of business contexts. The unit will explore the nature of entrepreneurial knowledge and skills, attributes, competences, and behaviours.
• Leadership Essentials: The unit aims to provide a critical understanding of leadership theory and practice through developing your personal leadership skills. You will develop greater self-awareness through reflexivity and working with teams, combined with a theoretical understanding including emotional intelligence, resilience and well-being.

• Consultancy Project: The aim of this unit is to develop a critical awareness of project management knowledge, context and boundaries together with an understanding of the role and responsibilities of different stakeholders. 
• Dissertation: The dissertation unit aims to provide you with an opportunity to undertake a significant piece of self-managed research in a relevant area of particular interest.

You have the option to undertake a 30-week placement at the end of the course, providing an opportunity to apply your acquired knowledge and skills in the workplace. You are required to find your own placement; however, our Careers & Employability Service and your faculty placements office are on hand to support you.

The placement is intended to foster personal and professional development, and to help you to make a connection between academic learning and the working world.

You should consider how a range of management theories can be used, and if management in industry could be improved. The transferable skills developed will improve your performance in your future career, both as employee and manager.

The normal requirements for embarking upon a postgraduate taught degree are:

• A Bachelors Honours degree with 2:2 in any subject.

• India: Bachelor’s degree (three years) from a recognised HE institution with a minimum overall result of 55%  
• Nigeria: Bachelor's degree from a recognised institution with a minimum classification of 2:4  
• China: Chinese Bachelor's (Honours) degree from a recognised higher education institution with 65% or above  
• Turkey: Bachelor’s degree (Lisans Diplomasi - four years) with a minimum overall GPA of 2.3/4.0  
• Ghana: Bachelor's degrees from University of Ghana or Legon with a grade of 2.00 or above, or from Cape Coast with a grade 2.5 or above  
• USA: US Bachelor’s degree (four years), with a 2.5 GPA or above  

All applications will be subject to a minimum grade and your degree may need to be in a relevant subject area.

English language requirements

If English is not your first language, you will need to provide evidence that you understand English to a satisfactory level. English language requirements for this course are normally:

• IELTS (Academic) 6.0 with minimum 5.5 in each component, or equivalent.

Bournemouth University International College offers a number of pre-sessional English and preparatory programmes to prepare international students for postgraduate study at BU. Admission to the degree is guaranteed on successful completion of your course to the required level. 

We provide a lot of support for you to help you find work, including a block of seminars, covering topics such as writing a CV and a covering letter, completing an application form, performing well in interviews, and we also provide language support to assist you with the written elements of your applications. 

However, it is ultimately your responsibility to find work. The university does not guarantee that you will find a place. Some students may choose to opt for a taught unit instead of placement.  

During your time on placement you will be supported by a unit tutor and a placement development advisor who will visit you on placement and keep in touch by phone and email. 

If you choose to do a placement as part of your course:

If you have previously studied in the UK, we will consider any study limit that may apply. We will issue your CAS according to the length of time you are entitled to under UKVI regulations (if you do not have enough time left for a work placement year, we will issue your CAS to cover your course dates only).

If you decide after you have enrolled on your course that you do not want to do a placement, this will be reported to the UKVI when you have successfully completed your course.

If you choose not to do a placement as part of your course:

We will note this on your CAS and your visa will only be granted long enough to cover your taught course, excluding placement.

If you change your mind while you are here and decide you want to do a placement, you will need to leave the UK to make a new Tier 4 visa application for the additional year of study. You would need to pay for your return travel back to your home country, as well as the cost of a new Tier 4 student visa application.

Your tuition fee covers expenses associated with your course including tuition materials, access to facilities, mandatory field trips and the following:

Additional costs

We are committed to offering you value for money and ensuring there are no hidden costs while you are studying with us, therefore we have listed below any additional costs you may incur that are not covered by your tuition fee:

• Laptops, tablets and mobile devices and any software used on personal devices. Access to a personal computer is strongly recommended for your study. If you are experiencing financial difficulty, visit our website for information regarding BU financial support funds. 
• Accommodation and living costs. Our accommodation price guide can be found on our website.
• Travel costs, outdoor wear and footwear for optional field trips.
• Travel costs to and from the university campus. An annual bus pass is included in your rent if you are living in halls of residence/Unilet accommodation.
• Textbooks, general stationery and other supplies. Our award-winning library is stocked with a large range of text books and online resources, free of charge. The Students’ Union shop stocks a wide range of stationery supplies.
• Travel costs to and from your placement (both in the UK and overseas). Information about funding your placement year can be found on our website.
• SportsBU membership.

While all aspects of the programme, including required field trips, are included in the fee, additional, optional or extra curricula activities may be available for which a student contribution is required.

If you need to repeat one or more units during the course of your studies (with or without attendance) the pricing will be pro-rata of the full time fee.

International (not Rep. of Ireland) students need to pay a non-refundable deposit to secure their place on a postgraduate course. You will need to pay your deposit by the date stated in your offer letter. The remainder of your fee will be payable on registration/enrolment. There are two exceptions to the non-refundable rule on the deposit:

• You fail to meet the academic or English requirements of your offer
• You are refused a visa to enter the UK, provided the reason for the refusal is not a fraudulent application.

Originally trained as a Chemist, gaining his BSc in Chemistry from the University of Nicolaus Copernicus and MSc in Tourism Management and Marketing from Bournemouth University, Arkadiusz followed a career in management in the hospitality industry. Gaining practical experience in hospitality Operations Management, Arkadiusz teaches undergraduate and postgraduate programmes in higher education. He has been teaching at Bournemouth University units such as Financial Reporting, Entrepreneurship and SME Management, Event Business, Sustainable Project Management, and practical aspects of Hospitality Operations and Food and Beverage Management. He is very self-motivated with high integrity, pragmatic, and flexible yet structured and analytical approach. Also, Arkadiusz’s teaching has been recognised by awarding multiple ‘You’re Brilliant’ awards.

Arkadiusz is also a PhD candidate here at Bournemouth University, interested in personalisation, value co-creation and Revenue Management research. His current research project is titled: Personalisation through co-creation. With his excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, he was also elected as a vice-chair of the Southern Branch of the Institute of Hospitality. The primary purpose is to promote professionalism through lifelong learning.

Dr Parisa Gilani is an emerging thought leader and Principle Academic in Human Resources and Organisational Behaviour. Her research interests primarily centre around leadership, leadership development, gender and diversity. She is particularly interested in qualitative means of assessing the impact of leadership interventions and the enactment of gender and leadership in male dominated industries. Parisa has a keen interest in extending our understanding of leadership to non-Western contexts. She has researched and delivered workshops in Iran, Denmark and China. She is keen to supervise Doctoral students in any of the areas listed above.

Parisa is also an educator and Programme Coordinator for the MSc in Management with HR and Academic Lead for the BU Certificate in Programme Leadership. In 2022 she won the Vice Chancellor's Award for 'Inspiring Learning'.

Dr Anthony Ezenwa is a Lecturer and Researcher in Supply Chain and Operations Management at the Department of People and Organisation, Bournemouth University Business School. Before joining Bournemouth University, he taught and conducted research in the UK (University of Leeds and University of Hull) and Nigeria (Federal University of Technology Owerri). Before joining the academia in 2011, he had been a road freight manager for over ten years.

Dr Anthony has a diverse research interest around the central theme of transport, logistics, and supply chain technology innovations and systems and their links with sustainability. His works are framed around several philosophical paradigms, such as social constructivism, pragmatism, and critical realism. In addition, he is well versed in the applications of mixed-method research; interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary research techniques that recognise the complexities and dynamics surrounding advanced information technology acquisition trade-offs.

Preethi is an academic and an associate Interior designer accredited by the British Institute of Interior Design with a background in Design Management for the built environment. Preethi currently undertakes teaching and research within the Business School.

She is one of the primary investigators on a European-funded Interreg 2Seas project, Speed-You-Up, which aims to reduce unemployment and school dropouts amongst young people in the UK, France, Belgium, and the Netherlands.

She also leads Teaching in Design for Tourism and Hospitality; Fashion Business, Buying & Merchandising, Organisational Behaviour and Responsible Management for UG/PG.

Sustainable development is at the core of Preethi’s design and research. With over eight years of experience in UK higher education, Preethi's areas of expertise include Responsible Luxury, Corporate Sustainability, Design Research, Youth employability, and Sustainable entrepreneurship.

Maureen is a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy & a Senior Lecturer (academic) in Leadership, sustainability and Organisational Behaviour at the department of People & Organisation, Bournemouth University Business School, U.K.

She joined the university in September 2017, from Robert Gordon University, Aberdeen where she was a lecturer in Business and Human Resource Management. Maureen had also held a lecturer position in Human Resource management at international college Robert Gordon University.

Maureen is an emerging thought leader with research interest in Sustainability, Responsible Management, Leadership, Responsible Human Resource Management & Organisational Change. She is open to interdisciplinary & international qualitative and quantitative research collaborations.

Maureen has thought leadership and directed impactful projects such as her Phd which addresses the institutionalisation of Environmental Sustainability in North-East Scottish Universities: Factors of Decoupling and Tight-Coupling. She also has several works in progress on Faith based organisations contributions towards tackling climate change challenges in the UK

Tahani started working in BU as a part-time lecturer in 2017, while she was doing her PhD in tax minimisation at BU and then she has been pointed as a full-time lecturer in 2019 in accounting finance and economics department.

Tahani has been qualified as an accountant practitioner for twenty years as she used to work in international companies and organisations such as Alcatel-lucent (ALU) and international organisation for Migration (IOM). Also, she worked as an accountant chartered in preparing financial statements for small and medium-sized companies. In addition, she worked in academia for five years before she pursued her PhD in accounting and taxation.

She achieved a First Class Honours in her master degree in accounting and finance and her dissertation titled: The relationship between financial structure and earnings and growth in industrial companies.

In 2020 she achieved her PhD in accounting and taxation and her thesis titled: Tax Minimisation and Firm Value: An Evaluation of Different Methods on UK’s FTSE 350.

Tahani is an active member of national as well as international professional bodies, for example, Bournemouth University Institute of Directors, British Accounting and Finance Association, British Academy of Management, the Tax research network and the Accounting Transparency Association in Libya

A senior lecturer and post-doctoral research assistant at Bournemouth University, having gained a Ph.D. in August 2019 with a thesis entitled “The Influence of the Washington Consensus Programme on the Transitional Economies of Eastern Europe – a firm level micro economic analysis”. Recipient of the 2021 European Association of Economic Studies prize for the best PhD thesis. Teaching experience across a range of subjects with positive student feedback referencing an ability to provide a personal historical perspective to theory and contemporary events. A Retired multinational Chairman, CEO and management consultant, skilled in Negotiation, Business Strategy and Planning, Business transformation, Management, and Mergers & Acquisitions (M&A). Extensive International experience, particularly in Europe and South East Asia, in the profitable development of both food and non-food multinational fast-moving consumer goods and OEM engineering companies. Peter’s research interests and thought leadership includes: The impact of the Washington Consensus Programme on the economic and institutional development of the former Soviet Union with particular emphasis on the mew European Union member states of Eastern Europe. His recent research studies explore the performance effects of firms in relation to productivity, profitability and finance availability. Peter has made a particular impact with a Ph.D. thesis entitled “The Influence of the Washington Consensus Programme on the Transitional Economies of Eastern Europe – a firm level micro economic analysis” which received the 2021 European Association of Comparative Economic studies prize for the Ph.D. which, in the unanimous opinion of the award jury, has the greatest potential to impact the field of comparative economic studies in the future
