For January 2022 entry (Direct entry to year 2 only): Subject-related HNC or equivalent. An RPL (Recognition of Prior Learning) is required for this programme.

Course details

On this course you will be taught by a range of staff with relevant expertise and knowledge appropriate to the content of the unit. This will include senior academic staff and qualified professional practitioners.

The course is made up of three stages – Year 1 (Level 4), Year 2 (Level 5) and Final Year (Level 6). Depending on your qualifications and experience, you may join us at different stages.

Your application

For this course we are looking for applicants who:

  • Are keen to develop an appreciation of business and management theories and practice
  • Have an interest in how theory can work in practice
  • Show motivation to successfully complete the course
  • Have an awareness of the international business environment
  • Are prepared to positively develop themselves both personally and professionally.

This course offers those with limited previous qualifications the opportunity to gain an Honours degree. We encourage applications from those who have relevant work experience and would like to enhance their career prospects. It may also be relevant for international students who would like to proceed to a Master's course.

We are looking for dedicated students with excellent organisation skills and the ability to manage their time and learning effectively.

Applications are considered on individual merit, previous and current work experience (paid employment or voluntary) is also considered alongside academic qualifications.

You will need confidence and commitment to study in an entirely online environment this includes interacting with academic staff and students using discussion boards and submitting assignments.

Entry requirements

The course comprises three stages – Year 1 (Level 4), Year 2 (Level 5) and Final Year (Level 6). Depending on your qualifications and experience, you may join us at any one of these. Numeracy and literacy requirements (e.g. GCSEs) GCSE English Language or English Literature and Mathematics grade 4 (or grade C in the old grading system). Stage 1 (Level 4)

96-104 tariff points including a minimum of 2 A-levels or equivalent in capability and experience.

Stage 2 (Level 5)

Subject-related HNC or equivalent in Business Management, Accounting, Project Management, Global Management or International Management.

Stage 3 (Level 6 to 'top-up' to a full Honours degree)

Foundation degree or subject-related HND or equivalent in Business Management, Accounting, Project Management, Global Management or International Management.

Scottish Advanced Highers 96–104 UCAS tariff points from a minimum of two Scottish Advanced Highers.
T Levels We will recognise T Level qualifications at a suitable level (and in a suitable subject, if applicable). 

International entry requirements

Please see below some examples of the qualifications for entry onto Year 1 for January 2022 and September 2022 entry:

  • Chinese Senior Secondary Academic Proficiency Test (HuiKao or equivalent) with a minimum average of 80% or Gaokao 57-61%. Grade depends on the course
  • Hong Kong HKDSE Diploma (3,3,3 or 4,3,3 from three subjects).
  • Grade depends on the course All India Senior School Certificate Examination (Standard XII) 55-60%
  • Italian Esame di Stato with 60-64%. Grade depends on the course
  • Titulo de Bachillerato with 5.5 or 6. Grade depends on the course.

English language requirements

If English is not your first language, you will need to provide evidence that you can understand English to a satisfactory level. English language requirements for this course are normally:

Placements

At BU, we recognise that placements are extremely valuable and can give you a head start when it comes to your future career. 

Your optional placement will begin after your second year of study and must last a minimum of 30 weeks. You could be based anywhere in the UK, or could even choose to undertake your placement abroad – giving you the opportunity to develop yourself personally, academically, and professionally and gain skills to help you stand out in the job market.
