Fees

Postgraduate fees vary depending on the course you study, but are inclusive and cover all the essential course elements.

There are two different fee bands: one for home students and one for international students. Once you’ve submitted your application for postgraduate study, we’ll review it and assess your fee status. If it’s unclear whether you should be paying our home or international fees, you’ll receive a fee status assessment form to complete.

To find out more about how you qualify for home or international fees visit the UKCISA website.

Deposits

International (non-EU) students need to pay a non-refundable* £2,000 deposit to secure their place on a postgraduate course. You will need to pay your deposit by the date stated in your offer letter. The remainder of your fee will be payable on registration/enrolment.

*There are two exceptions to the non-refundable rule on the deposit:

  • You fail to meet the academic or English requirements of your offer
  • You are refused a visa to enter the UK, provided the reason for the refusal is not a fraudulent application.

In addition, you will be eligible for a deposit refund if you are unable to physically commence study at BU due to travel restrictions imposed either by the UK Government or the government in the country from which you are travelling to BU. If requested by us, you will be required to provide evidence of the relevant government’s travel restrictions to show you were unable to travel to BU in time to start your course.

If you’re concerned about this fee, please speak to our International Admissions team who may be able to extend the deadline for you to pay any required deposit and secure your place. We may not be able to offer an extension if a course has very limited remaining places.
