Sport courses

The facilities, industry links and outstanding Sport academics we boast at BU help us to truly stand out in this subject area.

Our focus is on helping you get ahead in your career, and many of our courses have been developed after extensive consultation with the industry, including Sport England, UK Sport, the English Golf Union and the Chartered Institute for the Management of Sport and Physical Activity (CIMSPA).

We’re also recognised as a Premier Skills Development Partner, one of only a few universities in the UK to have this recognition. We are accredited by the Club Managers Association of Europe (CMAE), a partnership which offers superb career and placement links, guest speakers and fantastic networking opportunities to our students.

Outstanding facilities, competitive spirit

SportBU is our on-campus sporting division that offers all students the opportunity to keep active and enjoy sports and exercise. In addition to operating a modern gym and wide variety of fitness classes, SportBU also runs Campus Sport and Performance Sport. The latter offers the opportunity to compete in the British Universities and Colleges Sport (BUCS) competitions.

Gain valuable experience on a placement

Our students are provided with outstanding opportunities, with all of our courses offering a 30-week placement – and we have developed ties with some of the biggest names in the sports industry.

Placement opportunities include the chance to spend a year working with the likes of West Ham United FC, The Goodsport Trust, AFC Bournemouth, Fitness First, US Sport Institute, Saracens RFC, Surrey County Cricket, Australian Institute of Sport, Moraira Tennis and World Sports Group.
