Accredited by the Chartered Institute of Marketing, the Association for Project Management, the Institute of Travel and Tourism and the Institute of Data and Marketing, this four-year course primes you with theoretical knowledge and the practical skillset needed to create and oversee events as diverse as product launches, fundraisers, corporate meetings, personal gatherings and mega-events like the Olympic Games.

During your studies, you’ll get the opportunity to organise real-world events with other students, and in year three you’ll complete a 30-week work placement to build a network of professional contacts, bolster your CV, and ultimately enhance your employability. You’ll also have the opportunity to study abroad at one of our many partner institutions.

In your final year, you’ll have a large range of options to study, allowing you to style your curriculum to suit your interests, passions and career goals. You’ll also benefit from a dynamic mix of guest lecturers, visits to local and regional event venues and real-life case studies.

Events management is a varied and exciting field, and this degree will prepare you for a wide range of careers thanks to the transferable skills you will develop. Our graduates are working in events, marketing, communications, PR, sales and HR.

This course is accredited by the Institute for Data & Marketing (IDM). Upon successful completion, you will be able to obtain the IDM Certificate in Digital and Data-Driven Marketing.

Course details

On this course you will be taught by a range of staff with relevant expertise and knowledge appropriate to the content of the unit. This will include senior academic staff, qualified professional practitioners, demonstrators, technicians and research students. 

You will also benefit from regular guest lectures from industry. Previous guest lectures have included the Director of Bournemouth International Air Festival, the Managing Director of Story Events and the Vice President and Legal Advisor for the National Outdoor Event Association (NOEA).

Your placement will begin after your second year of study and must last a minimum of 30 weeks. The field of events management is varied and exciting to work in and this degree will prepare you for a range of roles in the sector. The work placement you undertake will allow you to make valuable contacts within the events management industry and will help you to improve your employment prospects.
