We are looking for applicants who:

• Have a full-time contract and are employed for a minimum of 30 hours a week

• Accounting Fundamentals: This unit introduces you to the fundamentals of double entry accounting and how to apply them to record business transactions accurately. You'll learn how to make simple adjustments to financial records and prepare basic financial statements. By the end of the unit, you should have the skills needed to move on to more advanced financial reporting and analysis.   
• Sustainability and Ethics in Business: This unit introduces the fundamentals of sustainability and ethics and their relevance to the role of a professional accountant. You will examine how environmental factors, business functions, people, technology, and data shape the sustainable and ethical management of organisations. The unit also develops your ability to make informed, ethical decisions that support your career, your organisation, and society. 
• Assurance and Risk Fundamentals: This module introduces why assurance is important, how to assess risk and internal controls, and how to gather reliable evidence.  It also covers ethics, regulation, and how assurance supports trust in financial and sustainability reporting.
• Tax Fundamentals: This unit provides an introduction to key taxation principles, covering areas such as income tax, national insurance, capital gains tax, inheritance tax, corporation tax, VAT, and stamp taxes. You will develop technical knowledge while also exploring modern themes including equity, sustainability, and technological change in tax administration. The unit also examines the impact of generative AI and digital transformation on current and future tax practice.
• Business Insight and Performance: This unit develops your ability to prepare essential financial information used in managing a business. You will gain the knowledge and skills needed to interpret and apply financial data in a business context. It also provides a foundation for further study in business and performance analytics.   
• Business Law: This unit introduces you to the key legal and ethical frameworks that govern the work of accounting and finance professionals. You will explore the laws, codes, and regulations that apply to business and data, and develop a critical understanding of how they relate to different types of business organisations. The unit also helps you build the confidence to assess and apply professional conduct in a way that supports your career, your organisation, and wider society.

• Fundamental Case Study: This unit helps you bring together the accounting knowledge you've learned so far by working through a real-world business case study. You’ll practice solving problems and making decisions like you would in a real job. It also develops important skills such as analysing information, communicating clearly, planning your work, and acting with professionalism and honesty. This prepares you for more advanced topics and assessments later on.
• Assurance, Risk and Reporting: This unit develops your ability to manage assurance engagements, including audits, by covering key stages such as acceptance, planning, execution, and reporting. You will also learn to prepare full financial statements and extracts in line with a wide range of IFRS® and IFRS® Sustainability Standards. The unit equips you with both technical and practical skills relevant to financial reporting and assurance.
• Financial Management and Strategy: This unit focuses on the essential role of financial management within a business. You will explore theoretical principles and practical techniques to support strategic decision-making in a complex and uncertain environment. The unit also prepares you to recommend sustainable financial strategies related to financing, investment, and distribution.
• Business and Digital Strategy: This unit introduces you to the various perspectives and approaches used to develop and implement business strategy. You will learn about the key tools, models, and methodologies that guide strategic decision-making in organisations worldwide. The unit also covers how strategy is developed, executed, and monitored, with a focus on ethical and sustainability considerations. 
• Performance Management: This unit focuses on teaching you how to use management accounting techniques to help with planning, decision-making, performance evaluation, and control in a business. It builds on your existing knowledge and helps you apply these skills in real-world situations. You will also learn to think critically about new developments in management accounting and prepare for further study. Additionally, the unit covers how to use tools and technology to analyse and present performance information effectively.

• Tax Compliance & Planning: This unit teaches you how to prepare tax calculations for individuals and companies following UK tax laws. You’ll learn to assess tax implications, compare different tax treatments, and solve tax-related issues while maintaining professional and ethical standards. The unit also covers using technology to support tax compliance and planning in line with digital tax requirements.
• Financial Reporting, Data and Assurance: This unit teaches you how to prepare consolidated and individual financial statements following IFRS® Accounting Standards. You will learn to recommend and prepare the necessary disclosures for different business scenarios. The unit also covers managing assurance engagements, including planning, performing, and reporting audits. You’ll develop skills in using data analytics to examine financial information and identify potential issues. Additionally, you will explore professional and ethical considerations related to corporate reporting, data, and assurance.
• Gateway Readiness and End Point Assessment (EPA): This unit prepares degree apprentices for the gateway, which is the stage where you confirm you’re ready to take the final End Point Assessment (EPA). It supports you in completing a portfolio and getting your project proposal approved to meet gateway requirements. You will also complete both parts of the EPA. The unit is designed to help you demonstrate your skills and competence in your chosen occupation. 

An apprenticeship is a job with training and therefore, because you earn a wage, you won’t be eligible for student loans or maintenance grants, and you’ll need to cover your day-to-day expenses like living costs, rent and travel.

Additional costs will be payable by the apprentice as follows:

• Textbooks, general stationery and other supplies. Our award-winning library is stocked with a large range of textbooks and online resources, free of charge. The Students’ Union shops stock a wide range of stationery supplies on both campuses
• Accommodation and living costs 
• Travel costs to and from the University campus for taught sessions
• Travel costs to and from your workplace, which could be based at various locations across the southwest region.
