Bournemouth University’s vision is worldwide recognition as a leading university for inspiring learning, advancing knowledge and enriching society through the fusion of education, research and practice. Our highly skilled and creative workforce is comprised of individuals drawn from a broad cross section of the globe, who reflect a variety of backgrounds, talents, perspectives and experiences that help to build our global learning community.

This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a friendly team of Receptionists covering 3 Reception points at the Talbot and Lansdowne Campuses, working in some of our flagship new buildings in a fast-paced and varied environment.

We welcome staff, students and visitors from all over the world and you will play an important role in delivering a professional and excellent customer service experience to everyone coming on site.  You will specifically be responsible for helping people to navigate around our campuses and buildings, receiving visitors, undertaking switchboard duties, assisting with access control enquiries, reporting any security issues and dealing with Reception/Front of House enquiries.

To be successful in the role, you will have a confident and personable manner, experience in dealing with volumes of people and queries and be great at multi-tasking.  You’ll enjoy working in a busy environment as part of a dedicated team and have a flexible attitude to supporting the delivery of excellent customer service.

This is a uniformed position and branded clothing will be supplied. The post will be rotated between the Talbot and Lansdowne Campuses.  Working time will be either 0800 to 1630 or 0830 to 1700 depending on which Reception point the postholder is allocated to for the day/week.

This position is available as an annualised appointment where you will be required to work 350 hours per year to cover periods of absence through annual leave or sickness in the Reception Team.  Whilst some cover periods will be identified in advance, a level of flexibility is required to be able to cover short notice absences.

This position does not meet the eligibility requirements for sponsorship under the Skilled Worker Route within the UK Visa and Immigration service’s Points Based System.  Therefore, BU will not be able to sponsor individuals who require permission to work to carry out this position.

BU values and is committed to an inclusive working environment.  We seek a diverse community through attracting, developing and retaining staff from different backgrounds to contribute to inspirational learning, advancing knowledge and enriching society.  To support and enable our staff to achieve a balance between work and their personal lives, we will also consider proposals for flexible working or job share arrangements.
