Dr Reece Bush-Evans is a member of the Cyberpsychology group at Bournemouth University. He has been working on a responsible gambling project funded by GambleAware and Bournemouth University since 2020. This work involves using multiple methodological approaches (e.g., longitudinal RCT, interviews, website and social media analysis, eye-tracking) to design, enhance, and promote responsible online gambling.

Before joining BU as a postdoctoral researcher, he completed his PhD in Social/Personality Psychology at University of Southampton in 2020. He also received an MSc degree in Research Methods in Psychology from University of Southampton in 2015; a BSc in Psychology from University of Southampton in 2014; and a BA(Hons) in Television Production at BU in 2011.

Reece has a strong interest in personality, human decision-making and research methods. He has rich experience with multidisciplinary research approaches, data analytic and modelling skills (i.e., SPSS, JASP, R, STATA), teaching on a number of undergraduate and postgraduate modules, and laboratory and field experiments.

Currently an Associate Fellow with the HEA, Reece is undertaking a PG Certification in Education Practice (award pending) to advance to Fellow status.

Research

My research focuses on social psychological aspects of behaviour, and how this is influenced by personality, group dynamics and interpersonal relationships. My PhD focused explicitly on the influence of narcissism on team dynamics (e.g., team cohesion, team conflict) and organisational outcomes (e.g., team performance), and utilised a variety of methodological approaches (e.g., longitudinal hierarchical modelling, round-robin data analyses, mediation).

Since joining Bournemouth University I have worked with colleagues from various departments (Psychology, Business, Computing) to conduct research on problematic gambling and how this can be addressed with the help of technology to detect, predict, prevent, and intervene with harmful gambling behaviours.
