Every June, World Wellbeing Week encourages us to pause, reflect, and check in on our mental, physical, and social health. This year, we're marking the occasion with a series of engaging activities designed specifically for the research community.
Taking place from Monday 22 to Friday 26 June, the programme offers opportunities to unwind, recharge, connect with colleagues, and prioritise personal wellbeing - whether through gentle movement, creativity, or time spent in nature.
What’s on?
Baduanjin and Qigong for body and mind, Monday 22 June, 3pm to 4pm, Student Hall, Talbot House, Talbot Campus
Start the week with a calming session of Baduanjin (八段锦), a traditional form of qigong featuring eight slow, flowing movements. Widely practised for its health benefits, this gentle exercise is particularly beneficial for those who spend long periods sitting, helping to release tension, improve flexibility and restore energy levels.
No prior experience is needed. Just wear comfortable clothing and enjoy a peaceful, guided session in a supportive environment.

Community garden volunteering, Tuesday 23 June, 12pm to 1pm, BU Community Garden, Talbot Campus
Reconnect with nature and give back by volunteering at the BU Community Garden, managed by SUBU and established in January 2025.
This session offers a chance to step away from your desk, enjoy the outdoors, and contribute to the garden’s mission of growing food for the community and those in need.

- Build connections within the research community
- Develop healthy habits to support long-term wellbeing.
We encourage all researchers to take part where possible and make wellbeing a priority.
