It has never been more important to have well trained staff, not only to run your business on a day to day basis, but to take it into the future. Yet, for some reason, people are still not clear as to how people learn. This workshop will help you to:
- Understand how humans learn
- Explore how this fits into an holistic package of knowledge, skills and attitudes
- Investigate how Ashcroft’s Determinates of Learning can facilitate learning in you organization
- Understand how Ashcroft’s ideas can be incorporated into formal and social learning
- Develop ways of incorporating these ideas into a culture that will develop a learning organisation
In 1986 I went to study at Massey University in New Zealand. It was one of the most formative times of my life. I met many amazing people. One of these was Eric Ashcroft. Eric’s philosophy was simple; talking about ‘teaching’ is stupid, we should be talking about how people ‘learn’. We know how people learn; therefore our job is to use this knowledge to help them do so. To produce, skilled individuals, who become lifelong learners, and help develop learning organizations. That time in New Zealand has underpinned almost 30 years of successfully facilitating learning in a variety of situations and is something that I love to share.”
