Tourism and hospitality professionals will come together for an employability event in Dorset.
Hosted by Bournemouth University’s Department of Tourism & Hospitality, the employability day has been created to boost careers and professional development prospects for students and industry professionals alike.
Taking place on Wednesday 23 November on BU’s Talbot Campus, the event will include a panel discussion with local hoteliers about tourism trends, challenges and opportunities, and a discussion about food innovations and competitiveness with food industry professionals.
In the afternoon, there will be a series of workshops exploring career opportunities and industry developments, aimed at both students and professionals.
Professor Dimitrios Buhalis, Head of the Tourism & Hospitality Department at Bournemouth University, said, “As part of our knowledge and professionalism co-creation, Bournemouth University is leading in linking the best tourism and hospitality talent with the most innovative global organisations.
“The day is free for everyone to attend and aims to raise the professionalism of tourism and hospitality and to engage partners in knowledge co-creation with Bournemouth University.”
Among the organisations in attendance are British Airways, Expedia, Hilton Worldwide, Thomas Cook, Chewton Glen, Jumeirah Hotels, Qatar Airways and TUI.
Professor Buhalis concluded, “We will also host Bournemouth University Postgraduate Courses Open Afternoon to showcase our postgraduate courses and to discuss with potential candidates the great opportunities.”
