The use of Virtual Reality (VR) and Immersive Technology in marketing is under the spotlight at this year’s annual Mike Warne Event taking place on Wednesday 1 March 2017. Now in it’s eleventh year, the event attracts over 150 attendees including local business professionals, Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM) members and BU students.
Hosted on BU's Talbot Campus and organised by final year BA (Hons) Marketing Communications students with support from the CIM , the Mike Warne Event will bring together leaders in VR and Immersive Technology to address current industry challenges, trends, and share first-hand experience integrating these tactics into marketing campaigns.
The first speaker confirmed for this year is VR industry leader and TEDx speaker, Dean Johnson, Head of Innovation at Brandwidth - a creative brand engagement agency using VR with some of the world’s biggest companies. Sharing his thoughts on the future of this technology, Dean reflects:
“VR has the potential to deliver the most creative, immersive platform ever for designers, developers, marketers and filmmakers. We must now ensure content and hardware are fit for purpose and live up to this potential.”
Also speaking, is Samantha Kingston, an award-winning Client Director at Virtual Umbrella, a marketing and PR specialist agency working exclusively in the VR industry. Outside of her role at Virtual Umbrella, Samantha has a proactive voice within the VR community and for Women in Tech. Cathy White will also be presenting her expertise in the field of VR and Immersive Technology. As the Founder at CEW Communications, Cathy specialises in accelerating the growth of digital startups.
An interactive Q&A Panel will also take place on the evening, offering attendees the opportunity to ask further questions on the use of Virtual Reality (VR) and Immersive Technology in marketing.
The event takes place on Wednesday 1 March from 6.15pm to 8pm at BU’s Talbot Campus. Tickets are free for BU students and must be booked in advance through the Mike Warne Eventbrite page.
