Join former AFC Bournemouth (AFCB) player Jimmy Glass, current AFCB captain Simon Francis and defender Tyrone Mings at BU as they talk about their careers.
On Tuesday 27 November from 5.30pm, Jimmy Glass, Simon Francis and Tyrone Mings will be visiting Bournemouth University's (BU) Talbot Campus. Former Cherries player Jimmy Glass will be interviewing current AFCB players Simon Francis and Tyrone Mings about their distinguished football careers - with a focus on resilience.
Tyrone Mings signed for AFC Bournemouth on a four-year contract in June 2015 and made his Premier League debut for Bournemouth on 29 August later that year in a 1-1 draw with Leicester City. Off the field, Mings has gained a reputation for his charitable acts and generosity and is an ambassador for Kick It Out, football’s equality and inclusion organisation.
Simon Francis is AFCB’s club captain - an honour he has held since 2016. He was originally signed to Bournemouth on a loan in November 2011, a deal which was made permanent in January 2012. He was instrumental in AFCB’s promotion to The Football League Championship in 2012-2013 and won Player’s Player of the Season that year.
Both players will be focussing on the subject of resilience, drawing on their experience throughout their careers and how they have had to overcome adversity.
Jimmy Glass is a former goalkeeper who played for AFCB from 1996 to 1998. Glass retired from football in 2001 aged 27 and is now AFCB’s Player Liaison Officer.
