Now that we're all staying at home more you may find that you're creating more rubbish and recycling than usual. An easy way to get organised is to check what you can recycle and then clean and compact as much as possible to save space.
The council are taking extra precautions for waste collections during the Covid-19 situation - check what to do if you or someone from your household has symptoms.
Check your bin collection days
Keep your neighbours happy and make sure you know your bin collection day and put your bins out for collection the night before (remember to put them away once they've been emptied too!).
Your 240 litre 'Big Bin' for recycling and 140 litre 'Little Bin' for general rubbish - are still being collected on alternate weeks. Food waste is collected on a weekly basis, and you can request a larger 23 litre food waste container if you need it. The garden bin collections have also now resumed - if you are already a member of this service these will now be collected on a regular basis.
Larger households with five or more residents, those with children in nappies and those who have a medical condition which generates extra waste, can request an assessment for an extra rubbish bin, as long as you meet certain criteria.
Flats with communal bins or areas with communal street bins have all household waste collected more regularly - check your bin collection days online.
