As we begin a new academic year, many of you may find yourself seeking placement opportunities, part-time employment or starting to think about graduate jobs for when you complete your degree. BU students have access to useful resources, support and events to help you find suitable roles for you. 

Upcoming events 

Take advantage of our in-person events where you can speak to CareersBU for advice and local employers about part-time work or graduate roles. These events are the perfect opportunity to discover more about your area of study, develop transferable skills or, in some cases, speak with employers who are looking to recruit on the day.

Drop-in careers support 

The Careers Zones at The Hub, Poole House (Talbot Campus) and at Bournemouth Gateway Building (Lansdowne Campus) are your one-stop-shop for everything related to your career and employability. You'll find: 

  • Our Careers and Work Based Learning Consultants who offer career coaching, CV checking, interview support and more 
  • Placement Coaches who can support your placement search 
  • The Global Engagement Team who can advise you on overseas work and study (and available funding)

Book an appointment 

  • Career coaching – Face to face and virtual appointments can be booked with a Careers and Work Based Learning Consultant on MyCareerHub. These meetings can be used to help you to prepare for interviews, consider your career options, offer advice on job hunting and more. 
  • Placement advice – While it is your responsibility to find a placement position, our Placement Coaches are here to help and support during the process to secure one. You can book a virtual or face to face appointment via MyCareerHub. You can use these sessions to explore that areas you would like to work in during your placement or seek support and guidance on how to reach out to organisations and apply for positions.

Finding visa-sponsored positions 

Student Circus, our dedicated careers platform for international students, helps you to find global visa-sponsored graduate jobs, internships, and placement opportunities that fit your career aspirations.
