The 17 United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (UN SDGs) are a blueprint for creating a more sustainable future, addressing the greatest challenges facing humanity and our environment.
BU is determined to play our part in meeting these challenges positively through our research, equipping students with the skills to deliver changes and through policies and initiatives to tackle climate change and social inequalities.
Our commitment to the goals spans across every department of the university, including embedding these practices into our professional services, enriching our teaching with sustainability education, and exploring new ways to achieve these goals through our research. Our latest report summarises the hard work and actions that have taken place across the entire university over the last 12 months to drive progress towards the UN SDGs.
The report includes case studies, data, and insights into how we rank in the Times Higher Education (THE) Impact Rankings 2025 for our performance against each SDG. In the rankings, BU ranked joint 59th out of 2,318 universities worldwide and was the 8th best university in the UK. Thank you to everyone who has contributed.
