In the context of Bournemouth University 2025 vision and strategy centred on Health & Wellbeing and Digital & Technological Futures, applications are invited for a Post-doctoral Research Assistant to work on an NIHR funded innovation project. The post-holder will be expected to develop a mobile phone based app for neuropathy assessment.

The position holder will undertake research and technical development of attachments to mobile phones as 3D printed parts for neuropathy assessment. The position holder will be responsible for modelling innovative attachments of different shape and complexity that can alter the vibration characteristics of mobile phones transmitting as a probe. This will require knowledge of 3D modelling on relevant software and experience of 3D printing to match the attachment variations. This will also require good modelling skills such as experience with Solidworks, 3D scanning of shapes as well as 3D printing. The position holder will also be responsible for producing printed parts and liaising with project/business partners and clinicians across the team and to be involved in project management and dissemination of findings. The position holder will be expected to have relevant experience in software modelling, mechanical/electronics engineering with relevant technical skills. Experience of working in a multi-disciplinary team with experimental aptitude would be an added advantage.

This post is available on a full-time, fixed-term basis for 12 months or on a part-time, fixed-term basis for 24 months.
