A conference overseas is an excellent opportunity for you to learn more about your specialist subject and widen your social and professional network. Presenting a paper or a poster at a conference is an important part of personal and professional development and will look great on your CV.

Conferences can be open to undergraduate and postgraduate students. It is worth keeping an eye on the specialist publications relating to your area of studies to look for opportunities as conferences take place throughout the year. You could also check with your academic tutor, or with other students in your faculty, to see if they can make any recommendations.

Funding available for conferences overseas

If you decide to undertake an opportunity abroad you might be able to benefit from funding to contribute towards some of the costs of your activity.

  • BU Turing Scheme funding is available to all BU students and recent graduates undertaking mobilities globally with a duration between 4 weeks and 12 months, between September and August.
  • If you would like to know more information about the Turing Scheme funding and the eligibility and quality assessment requirements, please visit the relevant web pages or email the team at: [email protected].
