This course focuses on understanding the principles behind designing prestigious experiences. You will be introduced to the prestige motivation model which underpins the design of prestigious experiences. The five prestige values and three attendee reactions will be thoroughly examined as they apply to tourism and event experiences.
The implications of this knowledge for the marketing of tourism and event experiences will be discussed. You will evaluate the prestige of a tourism/experience of your choice using the principles learned.
Dr Miguel Moital is a Principal Academic in Events Management in the Department of Events & Leisure, Faculty of Management. His main interest is on consumer experience and marketing applied to tourism and events. He is the co-author of the prestige motivation model and since developing it he has been involved in numerous studies on prestige consumption in events and tourism.
