International students: Returning home - reverse culture shock
Are you starting to think about going home?
We'll miss you, but we want to help you to make your transition back to life in your home country as smooth as possible.
Most international students experience some kind of culture shock when they first arrive in the UK. However, it's sometimes a surprise to experience it when you go back home too (it's called 'reverse culture shock'). Perhaps you've adjusted to the British way of doing things more than you realise? To help you prepare for going home, we'll think together about what you've learnt about cultural differences and how your time here has changed you.
This friendly workshop will help you to explore how you're feeling about returning home, what to expect and also give you practical tips to help you wrap up your life in Bournemouth (closing your bank account, shipping your possessions etc.)
Please register on Eventbrite if you plan to attend:
Wednesday 31 May, 3.30pm - 5pm (why not stay for Global Café afterwards?)
Join us at AUB's South House Theatre for a lecture recital of The House of Life - Words, Music and Silence, performed by Julia Hollander and Peter McMullin.
This exhibition highlights some of the most well-known and some of the most hidden sights of Dorset both during the day and at night. It starts at night, travelling through the Dorset countryside, and finishes along the Bournemouth coast.
Come and listen to our University Music Scholars and staff perform a variety of songs and instrumental pieces in an informal half hour recital - at St. Peter's Church.
