A Bournemouth University and Arts University Bournemouth production, with Dr Aanka Batta as director and Dr Bradford Gyori, Principle Investigator. We invite you to the lecture and launch of Rising Voices.
For this event, Dr Aanka Batta offers a poetic delivery on Decolonisation of the Arts and Education; an exploration of how the arts and education are shaped by imperial legacies and how we might attempt at decolonising them. We also launch our Rising Voices initiative, a writers’ development programme for Dorset-based writers of colour, a series of workshops that ends with a showcase at the Palace Court Theatre in Bournemouth in June 2023.
Come for a journey through imperial history, delivered poetically, and witness what we are doing to challenge set/imperial/colonial ways of doing art in the Dorset area!
Free event, drinks and snacks served, reserving ticket advised.
Lecture open to all, enrolment open to Dorset-based writers of colour at all levels of writing!
