Dr Jamie Franklin is a Consultant Gastrointestinal and Hepatopancreaticobiliary Radiologist at the Royal Bournemouth Hospital, and Head of the Institute of Medical Imaging and Visualisation. 

He studied Medicine at Cambridge University and Imperial College London before undertaking an NIHR Academic Clinical Fellowship in Oxford, where he completed specialist training in Radiology. Subsequently, he undertook DPhil at the University of Oxford, as part of the CRUK/EPSRC-funded Oxford Cancer Imaging Centre, studying oligometastatic colorectal cancer. His research has predominantly focused on using MRI and other advanced imaging techniques to stage cancer and assess tumour biology. He has collaborated across multiple clinical and academic disciplines, from genetics and histopathology to engineering and surgery, and remains passionate about cross-disciplinary working. He is currently local PI on the Sunflower and MOTILITY multicentre imaging studies. 

He currently serves on the British Society of Gastrointestinal and Abdominal Radiology (BSGAR) Committee, and is the radiology representative on the National Oesophagogastric Cancer Audit (NOGCA). He is a regular invited speaker at the Royal College of Radiologists, British Institute of Radiology and BSGAR Annual Meetings.

Dr Theo Akudjedu is an Associate Professor and programme director for the MSc Medical Imaging with Management at the Institute of Medical Imaging and Visualisation. He obtained his undergraduate degree from the University of Ghana (BSc Diagnostic Radiography) and postgraduate degrees from King's College London (MSc Neuroimaging) and the National University of Ireland, Galway (PhD Medicine). He investigated the progression of neuroanatomical abnormalities in psychosis using magnetic resonance imaging for his postgraduate training.

As a registered diagnostic radiographer with the HCPC, Theo is interested in clinical imaging, radiography and healthcare research, neuroimaging/clinical neuroscience and recently abdominal imaging. Theo is committed to research-led teaching and role extension of imaging professionals and thus, he uses his experience and expertise to inspire the next generation of radiographers. He is interested in multidisciplinary research and happy to discuss the possibility for collaborative research.

Arathy John

Arathy John is a Principal Academic in Medical Imaging and MRI Radiography at the Institute of Medical Imaging and Visualisation, Bournemouth University.  She completed her Bachelor of Medical Imaging Technology and Master of Medical Imaging Technology at the School of Allied Health Sciences, Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE), India, in 2014 and 2016 respectively.  Before joining BU, she worked as an assistant professor senior grade, and in-charge come program coordinator for the department of Medical Imaging Technology, Manipal Academy of Higher Education, India for six years. She was appointed as the Radiation Safety Officer with the approval from Atomic Energy Research Board, the government of India in 2019 for 3 years and she educated the employees and trainee students of her organisation on radiation protection and hazards. After joining BU, she teaches postgraduate students of Medical Imaging and Management. Arathy John remains an HCPC (Health & Care Professions Council) registered radiographer, involved in MRI scanning at the Institute of Medical Imaging and Visualisation.
