A recent animation graduate from Bournemouth University has secured an internship with Boomf – a personalised marshmallow company co-founded by the Duchess of Cambridge’s brother.
BA (Hons) Computer Animation and Visualisation graduate Izzy Burton will work alongside James Middleton as an illustration collaborator and apprentice.
Izzy will work with the Boomf team at their head office during a two-month internship, and earn a percentage of the profits whenever her artwork is purchased.
“I am so excited about winning and kick starting my career with Boomf – having just finished university, this will be a great first step to getting my art and illustrations out there,” said Izzy, who graduates from BU with a first class honours degree.
“My tutor at Bournemouth University, Susan Sloan, definitely helped me to hone my style of art by always encouraging me and giving me good advice during projects at university. I think without this direction I wouldn't have got to where I am today to be able to even have a chance at winning a competition like this.”
Izzy was chosen for the opportunity after submitting illustrations and designs for the Art of the Mallow apprentice opportunity run by Boomf.
Six finalists attended a design judging day and had to explain the inspiration behind their designs to a judging panel, which included Moonpig founder Nick Jenkins and illustrator Veronica Dearly.
James Middleton said: “We were really impressed with Izzy’s creativity in designing something that stays true to our ethos of ‘say it with Boomf’.
“We’re all for supporting new talent and her artwork is really striking and versatile – we think it will be a big hit with our fans and we’re looking forward to welcoming her to the team.”
