CEL aims to ‘to harness energy and provide leadership that inspires excellence in learning’ and one of the many ways is through funding people’s passion.
Whether that’s an academic who’s using BU’s Fusion framework to deliver an excellent learning experience and wants to do more, or a student with an innovative, creative and perhaps 'slightly off the wall’ idea for a project.
Funding opportunities range from student-led co-creation projects, in which a student and academic work together, to BU Learning and Teaching Fellowships and Innovation Awards.
Student-led co-creation projects
This supports student-led, collaborative projects delivering co-created outputs between an academic and student. Whether that’s a paper, presentation or product, the output is important. Projects don’t have to form part of a particular unit curriculum and it is open to final year students. Successful proposals receive £500.
Some previous co-creation projects include:
- Publishing ‘Featured’; a magazine featuring the final year journalism students’ work
- A short animated film based on experiences of an end of life carer
- Designing a parachute-assisted landing capsule that deploys a smart rover, as part of a space engineering project
- ‘Share a Coke’: The influences of Content Marketing on brand loyalty.
BU Learning and Teaching Fellowship
This is for academic staff using BU’s Fusion framework to deliver an excellent learning experience and wanting to do more. Successful applicants will receive £2000 and protected time to dedicate to pedagogic research, developing innovative practice and sharing examples of best practice for other members of the BU community.
This is for teams or individuals who have a creative idea for enhancing the student experience within their curriculum. Proposals should link to one of the CEL themes: Technology enhanced learning; Employability, work based learning and professional practice; Assessment and feedback; or general pedagogic development and research. Successful applications can receive up to £3000.
Keep checking the CEL blog for updates, including more dates drop-in sessions to help with your proposal.
