Bournemouth University's Dr Sean Beer delivered a guest lecture to staff at Amazon on the subject of, “Why we eat and drink what we eat and drink”. Dr Beer touched on wide-ranging issues, including the positive and negative effects of globalisation on the food supply chain and global gastronomy.
Dr Beer, an expert in food and sustainability, has regularly written on the subject of what a seasonal diet might look like in the UK. Subsequently the article was picked up by other news outlets and also published in the French version of The Conversation.
Speaking after the event, Dr Beer, a Senior Lecturer in Agriculture in Bournemouth University's Business School, said, "It was an extremely interesting group of people to speak to. The audience was highly engaged, with many questions at the end of the presentation."
The invitation was made following Dr Beer's article in The Conversation titled, 'What does a healthy diet look like for me and the planet?' The article was picked up in a number of media outlets, and also republished on The Conversation's French site.
