Professor Marcjanna Augustyn and Associate Professor Kaouther Kooli from the Centre for Sustainable Business Transformations have chaired a panel and presented on Sustainable Fashion Consumption at the roundtable discussion at the LIGUE Laboratory conference (University of Manouba).
This was the eighth edition of the conference and took place in Tunis on 28th-29th November 2024. The roundtable, “In Solidarity for a Green Textile and Clothing Industry (T&C),” involved various industry stakeholders and focused on the greening of the global T&C industry, bridging consumer, regulator, policymaker, industry, and researcher perspectives.
His Excellency Yassine El Oued, Ambassador of Tunisia to the United Kingdom, and Ms Rym Kanani, who is leading the Textile and Clothing Portfolio at the Embassy, opened the event.
Other presentations followed, providing insights from the Tunisian Federation of Textile and Clothing Industry focusing on the industry sustainability challenges, and GreenThreads DPP Ltd discussing the industry sustainability landscape including the new EU legislation on the Digital Product Passport.
An interesting discussion followed, providing insights from the industry and academia concerning culture as a driver of sustainable fashion consumption and the everchanging regulation landscape challenging the industry.
The Centre for Sustainable Business Transformations (CSBT) and Bournemouth University have a long history of collaboration with the LIGUE laboratory at the University of Manouba, Tunis and this event was one of many outputs delivered through this collaboration.
