BU hosted a delegation from the University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City (UEH) for discussions about ongoing partnership activity and closer working.
The visit including the signing of an official partnership agreement, as well as discussions about an ongoing collaboration looking at sustainability, innovation and capacity building in research and education.
The delegation included Associate Professor Dr Bui Quang Hung, Vice-President of UEH; Mr Duc Huynh, Senior Executive of Research Development and Global Engagement; Ms Lien Nguyen, Senior Executive of Research Development and Global Engagement and Dr Le Thi Hong Minh, MarTech Programme Director.
The visit followed a reciprocal trip last month when members of BU staff visited Vietnam and the university, before joining in a series of joint events delivered as a part of the British Council’s Digital Transformation in Vietnamese Higher education project, which BU and UEH are involved in alongside British University Vietnam (BUV) and Tra Vinh University (TVU) Vietnam.
Speaking after the visit, Associate Professor Dr Milena Bobeva, External Engagement – Internationalisation lead in BU’s Business School, said, "It was such a pleasure to welcome our partners from the University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City. (UEH). Our latest discussions confirm a strong mutual commitment to active collaboration around impact-driven research, student mobility, capacity building, and professional development. Most importantly, they highlighted the values we share as institutions."
Prof. Bui Quang Hung, Vice-President of UEH, added, “This signing ceremony holds great significance for UEH and marks a pivotal moment for BU as it embarks on the implementation of its new strategic direction. It presents a timely and valuable opportunity for both institutions to foster cooperation and promote mutual development.”
The delegation took time to tour BU’s Talbot and Lansdowne Campuses and the local area, meeting with Vice-Chancellor Professor Alison Honour as a part of the trip, before signing the Memorandum of Agreement.
UEH was established in 1976 and boasts over 30,000 students and is the number one university in Vietnam for training in economics.
