Thank you to every student who took the time to share their views during SUBU’s Speak Week in November. Your feedback is so important to help us understand what you value at BU and SUBU and directly shapes the changes we make to improve your experience.
Headline findings from the SUBU survey include:
- 83% of students agree they generally feel happy at university
- 91% of students know where to access academic support through BU or SUBU
- 84% of students know where to access wellbeing support through BU or SUBU
- Social life—including friendship, community and belonging—is the top contributor to student happiness (31%), followed by health and wellbeing (23%)
- 82% of students feel they have developed good friendships at university
- The top groups students feel part of are course mate groups (58%), general friendship groups (49%) and clubs/societies (37%).
November’s Speak Week survey focused on questions about student happiness, connection and wellbeing. An incredible 1,528 students across all faculties, year groups and campuses took part – a 30% increase from November 2024. This strong response shows how committed you are to help shape your university experience.
Your feedback helps us recognise what’s working well, celebrate the strength of the student community and identify where meaningful improvements can be made.
