Our campus cycle facilities are for daily use only and shouldn’t be used for regular overnight or prolonged storage. To avoid a build-up of abandoned bikes we go through a tagging process each summer which requires you to take action.
From 1 July, any bikes and D locks that appear to be abandoned at Talbot and Lansdowne Campus will be tagged with a white label. Once tagged, there will be a four-week period for action.
If you are still using your bike or D lock, simply remove the tag to show it’s in use and our team will leave it in place.
On 12 August, any bikes or D locks that still have a tag attached will be identified for removal. Tags will include an expiry date, and once this has passed, the bike or D lock will be removed from campus.
If the bike is in reasonable condition, it will be upcycled and sold back to students in the new academic year. D Locks, once cut off, will be unusable and will be placed with other waste metal collected on campus for recycling.
To avoid losing your belongings, make sure you take your bike and D lock home with you before you leave.
