Undergraduate Open Day FAQs

There's no need to reserve parking. We'll send you more information about parking before the Open Day - so keep an eye on your emails! 

You don't need to pay for parking on either Talbot or Lansdowne campus but you may need to use a Pay and Display car park if there aren't any spaces

Yes, there are limited blue badge options available on our campuses. If you're not sure where is best to park, get in touch beforehand or look out for our parking team when you arrive and they can help. 

For electric vehicles, we do not have public charging bays at BU, however, we do have a limited number of bays at both Talbot and Lansdowne Campuses. If you are attending an open day then you are welcome to use these if they're available. Unfortunately, they cannot be reserved. Don't forget to download the Clenergy App (on Google Play Store and the Apple App store) so that you can pay for the session.

It's really easy! If you would like to view both campuses on the day, we recommend using our free shuttle bus that will be running throughout the day. Buses run every 15 minutes and go to the following stops: Bournemouth Station, Talbot Campus and Lansdowne Campus including the accommodation in the Lansdowne area. You are also welcome to drive between the campuses but do bear in mind that parking is limited, especially earlier in the day.

Of course, to add more guests, get in touch and we can update the booking on our system. You’re welcome to bring as many guests as you wish. However, where numbers may be limited in certain talks and tours, then the attendance of the prospective students will be prioritised. 

There's lots to do on the day and the good news is that you don’t need to book any of it! We'll send you an email with the programme beforehand so you can use that to plan you day. Feel free to go to as little or as much as you like. 

You are welcome to attend as many course talks as you would like to during the event. If you are not able to attend all of the talks, please contact the Future Students team beforehand or go to an Information Point on the day and we will be able to help.  

If plans have changed, no problem. You can cancel your booking by clicking the 'cancel your booking' link on your email booking or give us a call to let us know. Feel free to book onto a future Open Day instead! 

Keep an eye on your emails. A week before the Open Day, we'll send you an email with a copy of the programme. This contains details of the talks taking place so you can plan your day. It will also be available on our Guide to Undergraduate Open Days web page. 

Look out for an email from us on the morning of the event which will contain a link to self-check in. You click this at any point during the day. Alternatively, you can ask one of our team to scan the QR code on your e-ticket. 

To connect to BU’s WiFi when on campus, please select ‘The Cloud’ in your WiFi settings and follow the instructions. 

Yes, we have a great talk all about the different options to support you, money you borrow and pay back (tuition fee and maintenance loans) and money you might be able to apply for that you don’t pay back (bursaries and scholarships). We also have someone available should you have any questions. We also have information on undergraduate fees and finance here. 

We know that our prospective students may have lots of questions about how we can support them during their time with us or about their application. At our Undergraduate Open Days we make sure that members of our various teams are available for you to talk to, including Admissions, Accommodation and Additional Learning Support (ALS).  

If you’re running late that's not a problem. If you would like some help to organise the rest of your time at the event or you've missed a talk you wanted to attend, speak to a member of our team and they will be able to help you. You may also be able to speak to the academics and/or current students afterwards. Feel free to contact us after the event too if you have any questions. 

We have a few different place where you can grab something to eat and drink at our Talbot Campus. You’re more than welcome to bring your own food and drink too. Our Lansdowne Campus has a lot of cafes, restaurants and bars within walking distance nearby and in the town centre, and there is a cafe in the Bournemouth Gateway Building serving sandwiches, snacks and drinks too. Please note that our outlets on campus are all cashless.

Yes, some of our course talks include an optional tour of the facilities or an activity, so have a look at the event programme for details. Alternatively, you can join a campus tour with one of our current students who will be able to tell you all about the campus and show you where you will be studying.  

If you aren't familiar with Bournemouth then the bus tour is a great opportunity to see the local area and what Bournemouth has to offer.  Free tickets are available at the Information Points at either campus and the tour takes roughly an hour. 

At Talbot Campus, we have houses in the Student Village and there are also a range of student halls on our Lansdowne campus. We also have student halls in Poole. You can find out more about the options available to you here. 

Please check your event guide for details of what will be available on the day and locations of the halls accommodation at Lansdowne Campus. To view one of the properties in the Student Village, please join a campus tour at Talbot Campus. To view halls accommodation at Lansdowne Campus, you can simply turn up to the accommodation you would like to view and you will be shown around. 

We have a free shuttle bus running regularly throughout the day between Talbot and Lansdowne campus to make it easy for you to travel between campuses. Alternatively, you are welcome to drive between the campuses yourself but bear in mind that parking may be limited.
