For the fourth consecutive year, Business & Management students have partnered with the Ministry of Defence (MoD) through the H4Sustainability module.
This module focuses on tackling real sustainability challenges with innovation, professionalism, and purpose - providing students with a distinct career advantage. Part of the national Hacking for (H4) series by the Common Mission Project, this twelve-week, mission-driven entrepreneurship module equips students with in-demand skills—from problem-solving and stakeholder engagement to lean start-up thinking and data-driven decision-making.
Kate, an MoD challenge sponsor, shared: "Students have interviewed 60 personnel from the MoD to support recommendations to modernise training and education delivery for Defence. As a team, they have proposed innovative ideas and challenged Defence to think bigger. We were delighted to welcome the team on site to see how we work and how their ideas could be implemented. This has been an invaluable experience for us, and we look forward to supporting more teams in the future."
Dr Mili Shrivastava, unit leader, added: "For students, it's more than a unit - it's a hands-on experience that builds real employability. For partners, it's a chance to collaborate with the next generation of strategic thinkers and innovators. We're proud to equip them with the skills and confidence to make a difference in real-world, mission-driven environments." This is how future leaders are nurtured and prepared here at BU. They will be ready to tackle today's pressing challenges with innovative solutions and strategic thinking.
