Check our step-by-step guide for how to log your attendance during lectures:

  • Bring a smartphone, tablet or laptop to class. Tell your Programme Team if you don't have a smartphone, tablet or laptop you can use to log attendance.
  • Get your device ready as soon as you come into class – switch on and connect to the internet/BU Wi-Fi.
  • At some point during the session, staff will give you a 6-digit code specific to that teaching session.
  • Go to the Jisc attendance system at https://student.la.jisc.ac.uk;
    • For quick access, we recommend adding this link in advance as a shortcut or bookmark on your smartphone, tablet or laptop. The link to the Jisc attendance system may also be provided as a reminder in the session, this will be in the form of a QR code or web address.
  • Click Log in, enter your BU email address, if prompted enter your BU username and password.
  • Enter the 6-digit code and click Check in. You will see a check in confirmation screen.

If you have difficulty getting onto the Wi-Fi, accessing the Jisc attendance system or entering the code, please report the issue to IT (https://itservices.bournemouth.ac.uk or call on (01202) 965515 or freephone 0808 196 2332).

Sometimes in smaller classes, staff may log your attendance themselves by taking a register.

You should only use the code to log your attendance if you are attending the session. This means arriving close to the session start time with the intention to attend the majority of the session.
