CEMP researchers are currently working with post-16 students from Linwood School.
Linwood is close to BU’s Talbot Campus and provides support, education and opportunities for a comprehensive range of Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) for children and young people.
This project is a collaboration between CEMP Researchers, BU students, and students and staff from Linwood School and is exploring how BU’s Television Studio can be operationalised for post-16 young people with SEND.
The Linwood students are working on a series of practical production projects, while CEMP researchers use creative research methods to measure and assess the outcomes and interactions. These studio days build confidence in the young people, teach them new creative skills and offer a Higher Education experience.
Each studio day is followed-up by visits to the school where the CEMP team run a series of creative tasks and activities and conduct follow-up interviews with the teachers and teaching assistants at Linwood.
The experience offers the Linwood students opportunities to learn new creative skills and the associated research project uses creative methods to measure outcomes.
