As a Bournemouth University student on placement at an NHS Hospital, you have access to a number of library facilities, either through your hospital’s library or one of the libraries at BU.
Bournemouth University Library - Inter Library Loans
Final year pre-registration and post-registration students who are working on projects may request items not held at either the NHS Library or Bournemouth University Library using the University Library's Inter Library Loan service. Please check that the item is not available using the catalogues of both libraries and the University Library's e-journals finder.
Download Inter Library Loan request forms from the Inter Library Loans web page. The form will need to be countersigned and sent to the Library by your tutor. For items not held, complete one Inter Library Loan form for each request.
Collect and return books via Bournemouth House Library, Christchurch Road, Bournemouth, BH1 3LH.
You will also have access to a number of journals and articles through this service, and you can order these journals by following the same process.
If you require articles to be posted to you, make sure you include your full postal address on the request form.
NHS Athens account
As a Bournemouth University student on an NHS related course, you will automatically be sent an email each year enabling you to register for an NHS Athens account. This will allow you to access a collection of library e-resources purchased by the NHS, via the Journals and Databases' section of NICE Evidence Services. If your activation code has expired or you have forgotten your username or password please contact E-Resources Help.
If you have created an NHS Athens Account via your hospital library you should direct all Athens-related queries to that hospital library. Hospital librarians will be pleased to assist with any queries you have regarding the NHS resources available.
