An aerial shot of Bournemouth, capturing much of the town, with the beach and sea on the horizon Lansdowne Campus is based just a short walk from the beach and Bournemouth town centre; Bournemouth Gateway Building, the Executive Business Centre, BU International College and several halls of residence are among the cluster of tall buildings at the centre of this aerial shot

Our Lansdowne Campus is home to most of our Health and Social Care courses and some of the BU Business School’s postgraduate courses. It’s also where most of our accommodation is based.

In addition to the Executive Business Centre, the recently opened Bournemouth Gateway Building and accommodation, you’ll find the BU International College located here, and the Old Fire Station – a nightclub run by the Students’ Union. It’s a lively part of Bournemouth, with plenty of cafés, bars, pubs, shops and restaurants.

Bournemouth town centre and the beach are just a short walk away, and the Lansdowne area benefits from great transport links – Talbot Campus is a 10-minute bus ride away and Bournemouth train station and the National Express bus hub are nearby.

You can explore the campus in detail on our virtual tour or find out a bit more about our two teaching buildings on Lansdowne below.

The Bournemouth Gateway Building

Take a look around our Bournemouth Gateway Building facilities on Bournemouth University's Lansdowne Campus.

The Bournemouth Gateway Building is the latest addition to our campuses and the new home of the Faculty of Health & Social Sciences – although it’s open and accessible to all BU students and staff.

If you study on one of our Health and Social Care courses, you’ll benefit from a range of practical simulation facilities in this building. They’ve been designed for you to practise essential skills before heading out on placement, helping to build your knowledge and confidence. Mirroring both clinical and community workplace settings, these specialist facilities include an operating theatre, an ambulance simulation suite, flexible skills room, plinth room, maternity suite and simulation wards.

The Bournemouth Gateway Building is also home to the Weston Library (housing resources mainly for the Faculty of Health & Social Sciences and the BU Business School), the Wolfson Lecture Theatre, the Alumni Café, seminar rooms, and plenty of light-filled breakout spaces.

And as with all new BU buildings, it’s been developed with sustainability as a priority, with a number of carbon-reduction measures in place.

Executive Business Centre

Located on Bournemouth’s bustling Holdenhurst Road, the Executive Business Centre provides a hub for students, academics and the local business community, where ideas and knowledge can be exchanged and new partnerships formed.

It’s a modern, light-filled building with plenty of formal and informal spaces across its seven floors, including three small lecture theatres, an e-library, study areas, and a range of meeting and seminar rooms.

For informal catch-ups, there are lots of breakout spaces throughout the building. In particular, the ground floor offers a range of casual seating and is home to the Market Deli, where you can grab a drink and a bite to eat. Towards the back of the ground floor, you’ll also find BU’s Orthopaedic Research Institute, which is where the ORI Gait Lab is located, allowing researchers from across BU faculties to study human motion to improve sporting performance and treat injury and arthritis.
