If you need to travel from Talbot to our Lansdowne Campus in the town centre, it takes 10–15 minutes by car or regular bus services. You can get directions from Talbot to Lansdowne on Google Maps, or download our general directions (pdf 389kb) to see where each campus is located.
Getting to Talbot Campus by:
Talbot Campus can be reached from the North or the East via the A338 (locally known as the Wessex Way). Take the exit at the Richmond Hill Roundabout (next to the Pru Health tower) and then follow the signs for the university.
From the West on the A35 follow the signs to Bournemouth (A3049), taking the dual-carriageway (Dorset Way) past Tower Park. Talbot Campus is located on the A3049 (Wallisdown Road).
Visitors to Talbot Campus are welcome to use our pay and display spaces within the visitors' car park.
Please note, there is limited pay and display parking available and spaces are allocated on a first come, first served basis.
Charges apply between 7am and 4pm Monday to Friday:
- Up to 4 hours: £2
- Over 4 hours: £4
There is no student parking on campus, except for pre-approved permit holders.

The nearest rail station to Talbot Campus is Bournemouth.
The fast train service from London to Bournemouth takes around one hour and 50 minutes. From the station, Yellow Buses (U6) and more bus (17) run services to Talbot Campus or you can catch a UNIBUS by walking to Dorchester house. There is a taxi rank at the station, and a taxi would get you to Talbot Campus in around ten minutes.

As part of the local transport network, morebus operates a student-oriented UNIBUS service. This service provides transport between our two campuses and extends to areas populated by students in Poole, Bournemouth and Boscombe.

The U1 Bus service runs every 8-10 minutes at peak times throughout the week. The U2, U3 and U4 services also run at regular intervals, plus the U3 runs a Saturday service.
The U1 Bus service is in operation during university vacation times, running a circular route between Dorchester House, the Lansdowne Campus, Cranborne House and the Talbot Campus every 15 minutes.
The U3 Bus service also runs during vacation times, including a Saturday service.
In addition to the UNIBUS service, morebus provide a number of public bus routes to both the Talbot and Lansdowne Campuses. You can find out more on the morebus website.
Yellow Buses also have a number of services that stop at both the Talbot and Lansdowne Campuses. You can find out more on the Yellow Buses website.
Talbot Campus is easily accessible by bike. At the Talbot Campus, there are secure compounds located to the rear of Dorset House, Christchurch House and in the Student Village. These operate on a card entry system. To gain access to secure compounds please obtain an access card from Poole House reception between 9am and 4pm. You will need to present a form of I.D.
Shower and changing facilities including lockers are available to the rear of Christchurch House using the same secure compound access card.
Poole seaport is approximately 20 minutes from Bournemouth and serves a number of European and Channel Island destinations. There is no direct rail link, but taxis and buses serve the seaport.
Portsmouth seaport is a good alternative to Poole and is approx 1 hour 40 minutes away by train. Both companies below offer a number of destinations in Europe from Portsmouth.

Southampton International Airport
Southampton International Airport is around 35 minutes away by road and serves as a main station on the rail route between Bournemouth and London. Southampton serves a number of UK, European and Channel Island destinations.
Bournemouth Airport is just 15 minutes away from the town by road and also serves a number of destinations. Although there is no direct rail link, taxis and buses serve the airport.
