Department of Medical Science & Public Health

The department of Medical Sciences & Public Health is seeking to build education provision and strong research programmes. Educational provision aligns with the needs of the local community and key stakeholders in the NHS and industry and includes undergraduate Medical Science, Biomedical Sciences (both from September 2020) and post graduate Physicians Associates, Public Health and Clinical Research.

The Department is multi facetted bringing together a number of existing sub departments which include the GP Centre, Primary Care Workforce Centre, the Orthopaedic Research Institute (ORI), Institute of Medical Imaging & Visualisation (IMIV), Public Health, Bournemouth University Clinical Research Unit (BUCRU), Centre of Postgraduate Medical Research and Education (COPMRE), Medical Sciences and Physicians Associate.

Our talented and diverse team ensures that the department is well placed to secure future funding and investment, creating an eco-system of research, research-led innovation, educational programmes and enhancements in clinical practice. The Department also has extensive network of collaborative research with NHS hospitals and other academic institutions at regional, national and international levels.
