Department of Medical Science & Public Health

The Department of Medical Science & Public Health brings together a number of teams, comprising the Orthopaedic Research Institute (ORI), Institute of Medical Imaging & Visualisation (IMIV), Bournemouth University Clinical Research Unit (BUCRU) and the Public Health and Physicians’ Associate teams.

We have a strong ethos to build education provision at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels, aligning with the needs of the local community and both regional and national directives.

The department is supported by a large visiting faculty and run postgraduate medical programmes for GPs and hospital doctors. We work with key stakeholders in the NHS and industry and have an extensive network of collaborative research with NHS partners and other academic institutions at regional, national and international levels. Our talented and diverse team ensures that the department is well placed to secure future funding and investment, creating an eco-system of research, research-led innovation, educational programmes and enhancements in clinical practice.
