A special evening Q&A with Bournemouth University’s Chancellor Dr Kate Adie CBE will give students, staff and the public a chance to hear stories and insights from Kate’s celebrated career.
Kate was the BBC’s Chief News Correspondent from 1989 to 2003, covering some of the largest international events for the broadcaster during this period. She has remained active within the media, as a prolific author on a range of subjects, including women in World War One, and presents ‘From Our Own Correspondent’ on BBC Radio 4.
Kate was appointed OBE in 1993 and CBE in 2017, and has won multiple awards, including a BAFTA Fellowship in 2018 – a lifetime achievement award given in recognition of outstanding achievement in the art forms of moving image; the highest honour BAFTA can bestow.
In January 2019, Kate became the fifth Chancellor of Bournemouth University – acting as ambassador and ceremonial figurehead of the university – presiding over the university’s graduation ceremonies.
The event will be held in Q&A format, with Kate sharing stories and insights from a long and celebrated media career.
Professor Alison Honour, Vice-Chancellor and CEO of Bournemouth University, said, “I have so valued the contributions Dr Kate Adie has made to Bournemouth University during her time as Chancellor. I am looking forward to this event as a fantastic opportunity to hear some of the experiences and wisdom Kate has gained over her career, and the importance of the roles she has held in ensuring the public were informed of some of the most important stories from across the last 40 years”.
The event will take place on the evening of 28 April 2026, starting at 6pm and finishing at 7.30pm, in the Lees Lecture Theatre on BU’s Talbot Campus.
