About CareersBU

Our team of qualified and experienced Careers Consultants offer 1:1 appointments which can be in person or online. Whether you have no idea what you want to do after you graduate, want help finding part-time work during your studies, or want to get ahead when it comes to getting into your chosen field, impartial advice and guidance from our Consultants is a great place to start. Book an appointment on MyCareerHub or drop in to see us in the Careers Zone in Poole House or the Bournemouth Gateway Building.   

Our jobs board on MyCareerHub has hundreds of vacancies at any given time. These have been posted by employers who specifically want to hire BU students and graduates. Vacancies include local and national graduate jobs, part-time work, placements and overseas opportunities.  

As a BU student you also get exclusive access to two partner websites: GoinGlobal, a database of overseas opportunities, and Student Circus, our jobs portal for international students. 

On MyCareerHub you will also find our business networking tool which can help you identify companies and people for job leads, as well as information about: 

• Jobs on campus  
• Local jobs including part-time work and graduate jobs 
• Where to look for jobs linked to your specific degree 
• Finding graduate jobs and graduate schemes (and the differences between these!) 
• Overseas work and study. 

We host careers fairs throughout the academic year, bringing together dozens of employers on campus. In October we have our Annual Careers Fair held over three days as well as our Part-Time Jobs Fair. November sees our Nursing, Health & Social Care Careers Fair and we hold a further fair in March each year. We also run employer panel events and masterclasses throughout the year. All fairs and events are advertised through the MyCareerHub events page. 

We run in-person and virtual workshops throughout the year on topics including CV-writing, LinkedIn, Assessment Centres and Interviews as well as more specialised subjects such as the Graduate Visa Route and industry-specific panel and insight events. The Bournemouth University Graduate Skills Programme is our extra-curricular employability programme open to all current students. Managed by CareersBU, the programme is endorsed by and co-delivered with industry partners such as IBM, Marriot, and University Hospitals Dorset. Through a programme of industry-led masterclasses, industry visits, online learning resources and extracurricular opportunities, you will work towards your Graduate Skills+ Award, helping you stand out to future employers.
