The Additional Learning Support (ALS) department has launched a dedicated team focused entirely on supporting our apprenticeship students.
Our Apprenticeship Specialist Tutor and Apprenticeship Assessor are here to help you overcome any barriers to learning so you can reach your full potential.
Learning support from day one
All apprenticeship students will be screened for potential learning differences through Cognassist; a powerful, quick and accessible digital cognitive screening tool which helps to identify how your brain processes information. Upon completion, our support team will talk through your results with you. If any learning differences are identified, you’ll be invited to a personalised induction, where we’ll explore what support will help ensure you're not at a disadvantage during your course.
Aware of a learning difficulty or condition? Let us know as soon as possible by registering with us via MyHub—we’ll offer the same personalised induction and work with you to build the right support package.
What support could you receive?
Support is always tailored to your specific needs and may include:
- Specialist 1-to-1 tutoring or mentoring, focused entirely on your goals
- Assistive technology, such as speech-to-text tools, mind-mapping software, or digital note-takers, to help make learning more accessible
- A flexible, student-centred approach, designed around how you work best
A joined-up approach to your learning
Our team works closely with your academic tutors and course leaders, ensuring that your support is fully integrated into your learning experience. We call this a triangulated approach—you, your academic team, and your support team all working together with your success at the centre.
Whether you're just starting your apprenticeship or partway through, remember: we're here to support you every step of the way.
