We take our students’ safety very seriously and want you to feel comfortable and safe whether you’re on campus or exploring Bournemouth. Our efforts to keep our students safe have led to BU receiving the nationally recognised accreditation of Secured Environments.

We have a dedicated security team who work 365 days of the year, 24 hours a day, keeping an eye on our two campuses. We also use CCTV where appropriate, in addition to other security systems.

Our security team liaise with a dedicated police officer who is on hand to provide advice and assist our personnel with crime prevention initiatives and activities.

Transport

We run a number of bus services designed specifically to make it easy and safe for you when travelling between the Talbot and Lansdowne campuses, and your student accommodation.

The bus service, known as UNIBUS, can be accessed on a pay-as-you-go basis, or with the use of a key card. In some cases, your bus key card may be included as part of your accommodation cost - make sure you check the individual accommodation options to find out whether this is covered by your rent.

Yellow Buses and more buses also offer services linking our campuses. Both companies run Night bus services too, so you can get home safely at any time of the day or night.

We also encourage our students to cycle into university and provide secure storage facilities for bikes at all of our campuses and halls of residence.
