BU’s bursaries programme ensures that students from low-income backgrounds, or those who join us from full-time care, don’t have to worry about finances while completing their studies.
We offer two bursaries, which are awarded automatically to eligible students*:
- BU Maintenance Bursary, which provides eligible students with a low household income a grant of up to £800 per year of study
- BU Care Leavers Bursary, which awards students who have been in full-time care up to £3,000 per year to support learning and living costs
We would be incredibly grateful for any support towards our bursaries programme and 100% of donations received will go directly towards our students. A gift of any amount will make a huge difference.
The Care Leavers Bursary has made such a positive impact on my university experience – from ensuring I had enough money to eat each month to funding the research field trip of a lifetime. This bursary took my financial worries away from me and allowed me to fully immerse in the university experience.
If you would like to make a significant donation in the form of a new, named bursary, we would be delighted to hear from you.
We can work with you to develop a bursary to match your interests and requirements, and will also provide regular reports and updates from the students you have helped.
If you would like to recognise outstanding achievements from across the BU community, you may wish to discuss funding student prizes and awards. We would be delighted to discuss this in further detail to identify a prize which matches your areas of interest.
For further information on bursaries and prizes, please contact Ian Wadley, BU’s Head of Fundraising, via [email protected].
Thank you so much for your support.
*Students automatically receive a bursary if they meet the eligibility criteria, providing they have completed an income assessment as part of their student finance application, and have given consent to share this information.
