BU is offering students, staff and members of the local community access to free Bikeability training this summer.
This training has been funded by Active Travel England as part of the Big Bike Revival, delivered by Cycling UK. The Big Bike Revival is a national programme that aims to encourage adults to cycle more, including those who are new to cycling or returning after a break. The Bikeability training itself will be delivered by Dilys Gartside, an instructor with 20+ years professional experience from CycleWise.

Why should I register?
Bikeability training is an empowering and rewarding experience that can help you to develop cycling technique, enhance road awareness, and increase independence. With a mixture of ‘Learn to Ride’ and ‘Guided Ride’ sessions available to take part in, this training will provide you with a comprehensive set of new cycling skills. Cycling also supports good health and well-being, and boosts confidence both on and off the bike. Regardless of your age or ability, getting into cycling can be a positive step towards building a healthier, happier lifestyle.
Learn more about some of the health benefits of cycling by reading about the CHAIN programme (Cycling against hip pain), developed by Professor Robert Middleton and Professor Thomas Wainwright from BU’s Orthopaedic Research Institute (ORI). Who can register?
This training is open to all BU students, staff and members of the local community aged 18 or over. This training is not suitable for children.
