Larry Lamb, much loved for playing Mick Shipman in the acclaimed sitcom Gavin & Stacey, Archie Mitchell in Eastenders, and for many other television roles, will be visiting BU in October as part of his UK book tour.
Larry’s debut novel, All Wrapped Up, is set amidst political turmoil on a Caribbean island and follows the story of Killian Wilde, first assistant director, and the challenges he faces. Blending sharp dialogue, rich behind-the-scenes detail, and the grit of a top-notch crew, All Wrapped Up is a compelling portrait of a non-blockbuster filmmaking under fire – where the real battle isn’t just on screen. Informed by his years of experience in film and television, Larry gives an inside look at the industry; the trials, tribulations, and hard-won successes of producing a piece of cinema. Larry said:
Fans of the show often ask me what it’s like to work on a TV or film set – and I hope that my novel gives them a glimpse into that world. I can’t wait to hit the road and meet people across the country.”
Larry will be coming to BU on Friday 24 October. There will be an exclusive event for BU students in the afternoon, followed by a public event for anyone to attend, where Larry will talk about his book and answer questions from the audience. Tickets to the public event cost £5 and can be booked on Eventbrite. Please arrive from 6pm in time for the event to start at 6:30pm. Larry will also be signing copies of his book, which you’ll be able to buy after the session. We will share details of the free student event with our students at the start of the semester.
