At BU, we want everyone to feel safe, respected, and supported. That’s why we're asking all students to complete a short online training session on harassment and sexual misconduct.
Thank you to everyone who has already completed this training so far. If you haven't looked at it yet, please head to Brightspace to complete it as soon as possible. Whilst this is a mandatory training session for all new September starters, we're asking all students, no matter your year, to complete it.
The training will help you:
- Understand what harassment and sexual misconduct really mean
- See why these issues matter and how they affect people
- Learn how to make safe and respectful choices
- Know what to do if you see something that’s not okay
- Find out where to go for support if you or someone you know needs help
- Discover what we’re doing to create a safer community.
Please note, before accessing the training, you will need to click an ‘opt in’ box. While the training is mandatory for new students, you can choose to opt out if you think you'll find it difficult for personal reasons. If this applies to you, please follow the link to the training and click the 'opt out' box. If you don’t complete the training or decide to opt out, we may contact you via your student email to offer support.
Further resources
Alongside the training, we’ve created a webpage that includes:
- Details of support services on and off campus
- How to report an incident if you ever need to
- Our policies and procedures, including our guidance on relationships between staff and students.
By taking part in this training and looking at all our available resources, you’ll help to make BU a place where everyone feels safe, respected and supported.
If you have any questions related to this training or you’ve been affected by any of the topics raised in it, please email Di Gray, our Sexual Assault and Harassment Adviser at [email protected] or please look at the support services on our website.
